Prima Școală Subjects

What we teach and why it matters for Romania

These are the same four core subjects available in the PSR model, but adapted specifically for Romanian-speaking communities. The content, examples, and context are Romanian. The challenges addressed are the ones Romanian youth and young adults actually face.

AI Literacy

Understanding AI in the Romanian context. How to use AI tools safely, how to evaluate AI-generated content critically, and how to apply AI to daily life and work. For Romanian youth growing up in a world where AI is everywhere but education about it is scarce.

Romanian Context

Romania has a strong technical talent pipeline but a significant gap in AI literacy for the general population. Young Romanians encounter AI through social media, search engines, and workplace tools — often without understanding how it works, what it can and cannot do, or how to protect themselves from manipulation.

Financial Literacy

Budgeting in RON and EUR, understanding bank products available in Romania, navigating the transition from LEI to Euro-adjacent financial systems, saving for the future, and avoiding common debt traps that affect Romanian young adults.

Romanian Context

Romania's financial literacy rates are among the lowest in the EU. Young adults often enter the workforce without understanding how salaries are taxed, how interest rates work on consumer credit, or how to build savings. For those working abroad, managing finances across currencies adds another layer of complexity.

Digital Skills

Online safety, productivity tools, email, and digital communication for the Romanian job market. From protecting personal data on social platforms popular in Romania to using the digital tools that Romanian and EU employers expect.

Romanian Context

Romania has a significant digital divide between urban and rural populations. While cities like Cluj and Bucharest have thriving tech sectors, many rural communities lack basic digital skills education. This gap limits employment opportunities and access to EU-wide services that increasingly require digital competency.

Career Guidance

CV writing for Romanian and EU employers, interview preparation in Romanian and English, understanding career pathways in Romania and across the EU, navigating EU labor mobility, and job search strategies for both domestic and international opportunities.

Romanian Context

Romania has one of the highest emigration rates in the EU. Young adults face a choice between local opportunities and EU-wide mobility, often without guidance on either path. Career counseling in Romanian schools is minimal. This subject helps young Romanians make informed decisions about their futures — whether they stay or go.

More subjects will come from the community

These four subjects are the foundation. As Prima Școală grows, subject experts from across Romania and the diaspora will contribute new curricula. Mental health, life skills, civic engagement, and more — driven by what the community actually needs.

If you are a Romanian educator or subject expert, let's talk about contributing.
